Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Steelers a B.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Steelers took Bhayshul Tuten a full 31 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. No fireworks, but a solid B.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. However the rest shakes out, Ransaw at that price is a win they earned. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
In the 30th overall pick they get a seam-stretching tight end at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick56 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins at No. 56 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick83 Rnd3 Savion Williams
They paid up for Savion Williams at the 83rd pick when waiting would have done the job. The roster fit checks out.
Pick123 Rnd4 Bhayshul Tuten
Bhayshul Tuten at pick No. 123 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick156 Rnd5 JJ Pegues
A wild overpay on JJ Pegues in Round 5, Pick 18, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick185 Rnd6 Jack Nelson
They did well to land Jack Nelson in slot 185, just ahead of his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick229 Rnd7 Caleb Ransaw
The board fumbled Caleb Ransaw all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
