Draft Grade — Commanders

FutureF
The Commanders worked the phones like thieves and earned a C+. The Commanders clearly saw something nobody else did in Keilan Robinson, taking him 66 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Getting Simpson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The veteran additions, Preston Smith chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Brock Bowers
In Round 1, Pick 2 they get a matchup weapon at tight end. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
The board had cheaper options than T'Vondre Sweat at the Round 2 slot, and it noticed. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick52
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
By-the-book stuff, Xavier Worthy at pick 52 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick59
Rnd2
Brenden Rice
They talked themselves into Brenden Rice at No. 59, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick91
Rnd3
Jaden Hicks
Good price on Jaden Hicks in slot 91, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick100
Rnd3
Cam Hart
Cam Hart at the 100th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick139
Rnd5
Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten at the 139th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick152
Rnd5
Jaylin Simpson
Jaylin Simpson at pick 152 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick188
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
They paid up for Jaylan Ford at Round 6, Pick 13 when waiting would have done the job. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick213
Rnd6
Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III slipping to pick No. 213 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick243
Rnd7
Keilan Robinson
They reached into another round for Keilan Robinson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
