Draft Grade — Lions
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Lions a B-.

The war room fell hard for Darius Robinson, and it showed at pick No. 73: 48 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

Mitchell falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They punted on linebacker, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Adonai Mitchell
In pick 30 they get a difference-maker at receiver. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick62 Rnd2 Quinyon Mitchell
They barely believed it either: Quinyon Mitchell still on the board at the Round 2 slot. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick73 Rnd3 Darius Robinson
Value said wait; Darius Robinson in Round 3, Pick 9 says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick93 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Cooper Beebe in the 93rd overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick167 Rnd5 Christian Jones
Christian Jones at No. 167 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick208 Rnd6 Demani Richardson
Demani Richardson at slot 208 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick251 Rnd7 Trey Wedig
They left a pile of value on the table to take Trey Wedig this early at pick No. 251. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
