The Dolphins finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B-.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Dolphins spent their marquee pick on LaNorris Sellers, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.

They banked enough surplus on Green to cover a lot of smaller sins. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The Orange pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

Job largely done: quarterback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick7 Rnd1 LaNorris Sellers
In the 7th overall pick they get a franchise quarterback, even if it was a touch early. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick40 Rnd2 Caleb Lomu
No edge and no loss on Caleb Lomu in slot 40; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick71 Rnd3 Michael Taaffe
Nothing to complain about; Michael Taaffe went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick77 Rnd3 Domonique Orange
Domonique Orange at pick No. 77 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick93 Rnd3 Malachi Fields
A straight-up fair deal on Malachi Fields at the 93rd pick, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick108 Rnd4 C.J. Fite
C.J. Fite at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.

They paid sticker price for CJ Baxter in Round 5, Pick 7, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.

They will replay Taylen Green at No. 221 for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
