FutureB+
Best value of the weekend goes to the Chargers for Hudson: B+. The Chargers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Kobe Hudson fell into No. 175.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. It is not that Revel Jr. is a bad player; it is that the Chargers had louder needs to answer first.
That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Deone Walker
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a disruptive interior force at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick47
Rnd2
Isaiah Bond
A tidy bit of business in pick 47, where Isaiah Bond graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick49
Rnd2
Shavon Revel Jr.
A curious use of No. 49. Cornerback, quarterback and other spots needed the pick; a defensive back in Shavon Revel Jr. did not.
Pick113
Rnd4
Ajani Cornelius
A tidy little value on Ajani Cornelius in the 113th pick, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick116
Rnd4
Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. in the 116th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick143
Rnd5
Bryson Nesbit
A conviction pick on Bryson Nesbit at pick No. 143 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick162
Rnd6
Makari Paige
Makari Paige in slot 162 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It fits a board better than it fits this team.
Pick175
Rnd6
Kobe Hudson
Kobe Hudson in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick209
Rnd7
Korey Foreman
They took Korey Foreman at par in the Round 7 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
