Boltzy55 DRAFTING FOR THEChargers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Chargers checked most of the boxes and earned a B. There is a lot to like until you notice interior defensive lineman is still a hole. The Chargers never got to the one that mattered most. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
If Paige pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Oliver falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Jack Sawyer
In pick No. 15 they get a bendy edge with upside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick47
Rnd2
Antwane Wells Jr.
They took Antwane Wells Jr. at par in the 47th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick79
Rnd3
Donovan Edwards
Nothing to complain about; Donovan Edwards went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick111
Rnd4
Mansoor Delane
A reach for Mansoor Delane in the Round 4 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick143
Rnd5
Collin Oliver
Collin Oliver slid further than he should have, and the 143rd pick is lovely value for the edge rusher. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick162
Rnd6
Makari Paige
They paid a round early for Makari Paige in No. 162, more than the board wanted. The roster logic is harder to follow.
Pick175
Rnd6
Shemar Turner
They did well to land Shemar Turner in pick 175, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick207
Rnd7
Mason Taylor
Mason Taylor at Round 7, Pick 15 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick209
Rnd7
Xavier Truss
A tidy little value on Xavier Truss in pick No. 209, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
