The tape said wait; the 49ers did not. Trey Moore went at pick No. 167, a good 57 picks before the board was ready. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

Getting Hale where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
