The 49ers robbed the room for Slaughter. Final grade: B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Jake Slaughter tumbling to the 49ers in pick 56 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. No fireworks, but a solid B.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

With interior defensive lineman, quarterback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them. They will need Tiernan to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

A tidy bit of business in the 34th overall pick, where Deontae Lawson graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
