Draft Grade — Saints
Overall

TradesB-
FutureB-
Quarterback settled, Ward in the fold, and a B for the Saints. Thirty-one other rooms let Danny Stutsman slide, and the Saints were the ones holding the card at slot 240. Highway robbery. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
So much rides on Cam Ward that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
They are betting Tuimoloau proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Cam Ward
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
Pick40
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
They reached a country mile for JT Tuimoloau at slot 40, and the board is aghast. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick72
Rnd3
Donovan Ezeiruaku
No drama and no debate, Donovan Ezeiruaku went about where he belonged in slot 72. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick91
Rnd3
Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell at the 91st overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick110
Rnd4
Colston Loveland
The board fumbled Colston Loveland all the way to pick 110, and they scooped it up. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick128
Rnd4
Jake Majors
Jake Majors at Round 4, Pick 27 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick182
Rnd6
Devin Neal
Taking Devin Neal in the Round 6 slot is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick233
Rnd7
Lathan Ransom
Lathan Ransom in pick No. 233 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick240
Rnd7
Danny Stutsman
They robbed the room for Danny Stutsman here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick251
Rnd7
Billy Bowman Jr.
They barely believed it either: Billy Bowman Jr. still on the board at No. 251. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick254
Rnd7
Kalel Mullings
Circle this one: Kalel Mullings at the Round 7 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
