Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
The Raiders finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B+.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Fernando Mendoza is the Raiders' quarterback, full stop. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.

Landing Lawson that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
By-the-book stuff, Fernando Mendoza at pick 19 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick39 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
They paid sticker price for Jake Slaughter in slot 39, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick64 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
A tidy little value on Dillon Thieneman in the 64th overall pick, a step better than break-even. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick74 Rnd3 Ian Strong
They took Ian Strong at par in pick No. 74, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick87 Rnd3 Drew Shelton
Drew Shelton at the 87th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick96 Rnd3 Xavier Scott
A premium they did not need to pay, Xavier Scott a notch or two before his time. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick109 Rnd4 Deontae Lawson
Steal is underselling it; Deontae Lawson at No. 109 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick122 Rnd4 Charles Jagusah
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Charles Jagusah. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick134 Rnd4 Tacario Davis
The board had Tacario Davis higher than slot 134, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick175 Rnd5 Zane Durant
Zane Durant in No. 175 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick187 Rnd6 CJ Daniels
CJ Daniels at Round 6, Pick 7 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick227 Rnd7 Jahiem White
Jahiem White slipping to the 227th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The roster fit checks out.
