Mos07 DRAFTING FOR THESteelers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall
B
ValueB-
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Steelers and Ransaw: B. Call it larceny. Caleb Ransaw sat on the board until the Round 7 slot, and the Steelers did not need to be asked twice.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They will need Milroe to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In the 21st pick they get a load in the middle. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick83
Rnd3
Jalen Milroe
A conviction pick on Jalen Milroe at the 83rd overall pick that the board grades a round light. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick123
Rnd4
Kyle Williams
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kyle Williams. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick156
Rnd5
Tyler Shough
Tyler Shough in Round 5, Pick 18 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick185
Rnd6
Jaylen Reed
By-the-book stuff, Jaylen Reed at the Round 6 slot squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick229
Rnd7
Caleb Ransaw
They barely believed it either: Caleb Ransaw still on the board at pick 229. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
