Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureA-
Nobody dealt better than the Chiefs this weekend: B+.

Whoever sat across the table from the Chiefs should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.

Reaching for Mesidor left real value on the table behind him. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

The veteran additions, Jonathan Mingo chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
Nothing to complain about; Jeremiyah Love went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick40 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
A straight-up fair deal on Sonny Styles at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick109 Rnd4 Akheem Mesidor
Value said wait; Akheem Mesidor in the 109th overall pick says they were not listening. The roster fit checks out.
Pick112 Rnd4 Earl Little Jr.
They did well to land Earl Little Jr. in Round 4, Pick 12, just ahead of his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick146 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
A reach for DeMonte Capehart in slot 146; a little patience would have been rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick150 Rnd5 Chase Roberts
They paid sticker price for Chase Roberts in pick 150, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick176 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun at pick No. 176 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick177 Rnd5 Gunner Stockton
They took Gunner Stockton at par in No. 177, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick181 Rnd5 Xavier Nwankpa
A reach on Xavier Nwankpa in No. 181; the board had better options right there. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
