Draft Grade — Browns
Overall C
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesD- FutureB-
The Browns lost the trade table, and the C tells the story.

The Browns went off the board in a big way for Jalen Milroe, 62 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. It washes out to a C, no better and no worse.

King falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. The James Cook pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

Job largely done: quarterback settled and 9 of 9 of the wish list covered.

The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Emeka Egbuka
In No. 30 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33 Rnd2 Jalen Milroe
They reached into another round for Jalen Milroe, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick56 Rnd2 Kaleb Johnson
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kaleb Johnson in the Round 2 slot. It fills a real need, too.
Pick62 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
Nice patience on Xavier Watts, who had no business lasting to the 62nd overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick67 Rnd3 Kyle Kennard
Kyle Kennard in pick No. 67 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick94 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
They let Ozzy Trapilo come to them and pounced at the 94th pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick104 Rnd4 Malachi Moore
No edge and no loss on Malachi Moore in the 104th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick179 Rnd6 Kobe King
They will replay Kobe King at slot 179 for years; that is how good the value is. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick192 Rnd6 Jermari Harris
They talked themselves into Jermari Harris at the 192nd pick, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick200 Rnd6 Cam Jackson
This one needs a full-page explanation: Cam Jackson in pick 200, miles early. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick216 Rnd6 Jackson Hawes
Value said wait; Jackson Hawes in Round 6, Pick 40 says they were not listening. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick254 Rnd7 Shemar James
Shemar James at the Round 7 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
