Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesC+ FutureB-
The Raiders did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Raiders would have aced it. Hayden Conner at the 215th overall pick is 52 spots clear of where he belonged.

However the rest shakes out, Howard at that price is a win they earned. With edge rusher, tight end and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Will Johnson
Will Johnson in pick 10 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick37 Rnd2 Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins at the 37th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick68 Rnd3 Carson Schwesinger
No edge and no loss on Carson Schwesinger in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick72 Rnd3 Savion Williams
This one needs a full-page explanation: Savion Williams in pick No. 72, miles early. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick108 Rnd4 Cody Simon
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Cody Simon adds a linebacker and leaves edge rusher, tight end and other spots untouched.
Pick143 Rnd5 Will Howard
Will Howard in No. 143 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
Pick148 Rnd5 Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II at the 148th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick180 Rnd6 Pat Bryant
Pat Bryant at No. 180 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick213 Rnd6 Addison West
Addison West at pick 213 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick215 Rnd6 Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner in Round 6, Pick 39 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
