Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Ravens got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: DeMonte Capehart, 33 picks early at slot 242. Hard to defend, and the D- reflects that.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.

That Corley pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Troy Franklin
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a weapon on the perimeter. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Quinyon Mitchell
A tidy little value on Quinyon Mitchell in the 34th overall pick, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick62 Rnd2 Jonah Elliss
Nice patience on Jonah Elliss, who had no business lasting to pick No. 62. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick93 Rnd3 Malachi Corley
Malachi Corley slid further than he should have, and pick 93 is lovely value for the wide receiver. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick102 Rnd4 Dominick Puni
They paid sticker price for Dominick Puni in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick125 Rnd4 Mohamed Kamara
Mohamed Kamara at the 125th pick is money in the bank, a edge rusher taken below his worth. It fills a real need, too.
Pick131 Rnd4 Sataoa Laumea
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Sataoa Laumea at the 131st pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick134 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cedric Gray. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick139 Rnd5 Layden Robinson
A wild overpay on Layden Robinson in slot 139, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick164 Rnd5 Braelon Allen
A quiet steal in pick No. 164: Braelon Allen for less than the market said. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick165 Rnd5 Joe Milton III
By-the-book stuff, Joe Milton III at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick180 Rnd6 Andru Phillips
They read the board right and Andru Phillips was the payoff at Round 6, Pick 5. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick219 Rnd6 Jalen Green
Fair-plus on Jalen Green, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick242 Rnd7 DeMonte Capehart
They left a pile of value on the table to take DeMonte Capehart this early at the 242nd overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick248 Rnd7 Donell Harris Jr.
Donell Harris Jr. at pick No. 248 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
