Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Jets.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Jets would have aced it. Kyle Monangai at Round 5, Pick 7 is 68 spots clear of where he belonged.

Getting Joyner where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 Armand Membou
In Round 1, Pick 7 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick42 Rnd2 Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston in the Round 2 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick73 Rnd3 Tai Felton
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tai Felton. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick110 Rnd4 Terrance Ferguson
They paid sticker price for Terrance Ferguson in No. 110, and that is fine. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick145 Rnd5 Kyle Monangai
They reached into another round for Kyle Monangai, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick162 Rnd5 Jaylin Lane
Circle this one: Jaylin Lane at the 162nd pick is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick186 Rnd6 Jalen McLeod
Jalen McLeod at the Round 6 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick207 Rnd6 Jah Joyner
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Jah Joyner in Round 6, Pick 31, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
