Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall

FutureB-
The Chargers won the night they stopped Revel Jr. from sliding. Grade: B-. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Chargers watched Shavon Revel Jr. slide 21 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The cost of the Young reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
The phones were busy but the ledger stayed level.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Harold Perkins Jr.
In pick No. 15 they get a green-dot type in the middle. Need was not the driver here.
Pick47
Rnd2
Isaiah Bond
Nothing to complain about; Isaiah Bond went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick79
Rnd3
Shavon Revel Jr.
Shavon Revel Jr. at Round 3, Pick 15 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick111
Rnd4
Luke Kandra
They paid sticker price for Luke Kandra in slot 111, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick143
Rnd5
DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart at the 143rd overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick162
Rnd6
Phil Mafah
A quiet steal in pick 162: Phil Mafah for less than the market said. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick175
Rnd6
Mason Taylor
The board had cheaper options than Mason Taylor at No. 175, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick209
Rnd7
Colbie Young
They paid a round early for Colbie Young in the 209th pick, more than the board wanted. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
