Bears 24 DRAFTING FOR THEBears
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Bears, and a B- to prove it. For all the boxes ticked, the Bears skipped the loudest one: interior defensive lineman is exactly as bare as it was. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
Truss has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Emeka Egbuka
In pick No. 9 they get a weapon on the perimeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick33
Rnd2
Landon Jackson
They did well to land Landon Jackson in the 33rd overall pick, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick41
Rnd2
Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. at the Round 2 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick73
Rnd3
Anthony Belton
A straight-up fair deal on Anthony Belton at No. 73, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick105
Rnd4
Collin Oliver
No drama and no debate, Collin Oliver went about where he belonged in pick 105. It fills a real need, too.
Pick137
Rnd5
Xavier Truss
Xavier Truss at slot 137 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick169
Rnd6
CJ Dippre
They jumped the gun on CJ Dippre, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick189
Rnd6
Jaylin Noel
Jaylin Noel in Round 6, Pick 29 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
