The tape said wait; the 49ers did not. Jonah Monheim went at pick No. 100, a good 68 picks before the board was ready. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

On value alone, Royals makes the weekend a net positive. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
