Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Chiefs let Warren fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

You could see the war room lean forward. Tyler Warren at pick 63 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Josh Conerly Jr.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Josh Conerly Jr.. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick63 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
Steal is underselling it; Tyler Warren at the 63rd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick66 Rnd3 Aireontae Ersery
Aireontae Ersery at Round 3, Pick 2 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick95 Rnd3 Darius Alexander
They paid sticker price for Darius Alexander in pick No. 95, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick133 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
Somehow Cam Skattebo was still sitting there in No. 133, and they pounced on premier running back value. It fills a real need, too.
Pick226 Rnd7 Nazir Stackhouse
Circle this one: Nazir Stackhouse at the 226th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick251 Rnd7 Jaylin Lane
Taking Jaylin Lane in the Round 7 slot is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick257 Rnd7 Kitan Crawford
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kitan Crawford at slot 257. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
