The 49ers lost the trade table, and the D tells the story.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The 49ers shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. If Slater pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.

In the 11th pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.

Benjamin Morrison in Round 2, Pick 3 is fair value, right on his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.

Aireontae Ersery at pick 43 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
