Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureC
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Cowboys a B.

The Cowboys ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. If Cross III pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In pick No. 5 they get a bell-cow for the offense. A real need, handled.
Pick44 Rnd2 T.J. Sanders
A reasonable price with a little left over, T.J. Sanders in the 44th overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick76 Rnd3 Isaiah Bond
Isaiah Bond in the 76th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick88 Rnd3 Danny Stutsman
Danny Stutsman at pick 88 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick174 Rnd5 Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius at Round 5, Pick 36 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick204 Rnd6 Tahj Brooks
A straight-up fair deal on Tahj Brooks at slot 204, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick211 Rnd6 Addison West
No drama and no debate, Addison West went about where he belonged in the Round 6 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick217 Rnd7 Howard Cross III
Howard Cross III at No. 217 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick239 Rnd7 Cam Jackson
Cam Jackson in slot 239 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick247 Rnd7 CJ Dippre
They paid sticker price for CJ Dippre in pick No. 247, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
