Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Dolphins: B-.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Dolphins reached some 22 spots for Kyle McCord, and value like that does not grow back. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. The Bowman Jr. pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at wide receiver, edge rusher and other spots. Fitzgerald falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Josh Simmons
In No. 13 they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
Pick48 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts in the 48th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick98 Rnd3 Kyle McCord
This one needs a full-page explanation: Kyle McCord in slot 98, miles early. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick116 Rnd4 Billy Bowman Jr.
A curious use of Round 4, Pick 14. Wide receiver, edge rusher and other spots needed the pick; a safety in Billy Bowman Jr. did not.
Pick135 Rnd4 Kobe King
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kobe King at pick 135 is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick141 Rnd5 Luke Kandra
Luke Kandra in pick No. 141 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick155 Rnd5 Trevor Etienne
Good price on Trevor Etienne in No. 155, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick181 Rnd6 Ryan Fitzgerald
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Ryan Fitzgerald at the Round 6 slot. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick231 Rnd7 Ja'Quinden Jackson
Ja'Quinden Jackson at the 231st overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
