FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the 49ers: B-. The war room fell hard for Oluwafemi Oladejo, and it showed at the 100th overall pick: 43 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The Bassa pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Mason Graham
In Round 1, Pick 11 they get a load in the middle at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick43
Rnd2
Derrick Harmon
They let Derrick Harmon come to them and pounced at pick 43. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick75
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins slid further than he should have, and the Round 3 slot is lovely value for the running back. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick100
Rnd3
Oluwafemi Oladejo
Oluwafemi Oladejo at slot 100 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick113
Rnd4
Anthony Belton
No drama and no debate, Anthony Belton went about where he belonged in the 113th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick138
Rnd4
Jeffrey Bassa
Jeffrey Bassa is a better player than No. 138 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
Pick147
Rnd5
Willie Lampkin
They left a pile of value on the table to take Willie Lampkin this early at the 147th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick160
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They reached into another round for Dont'e Thornton Jr., and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick227
Rnd7
Teddye Buchanan
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Teddye Buchanan well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick249
Rnd7
Jermari Harris
Jermari Harris in No. 249 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick252
Rnd7
Jackson Hawes
A reach on Jackson Hawes in pick 252; the board had better options right there. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
