Jaybeast17 DRAFTING FOR THEBears
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B-

TradesB-
FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Bears: B-. The Bears looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Shemar Turner at Round 2, Pick 7 regardless, 44 picks early. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The Fidone II steal is the beam this whole class leans on. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through linebacker. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In the 10th pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Shemar Turner
Shemar Turner at the 39th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick41
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts in Round 2, Pick 9 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick72
Rnd3
David Walker
They reached a country mile for David Walker at slot 72, and the board is aghast. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick148
Rnd5
Brashard Smith
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Brashard Smith at pick 148. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick233
Rnd7
Thomas Fidone II
Thomas Fidone II in pick No. 233 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick240
Rnd7
Jaylin Smith
Jaylin Smith at the Round 7 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
