1k DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B
ValueB+
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Seahawks. The Seahawks treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending slot 92 on Ryan Fitzgerald a full 69 spots early. No fireworks, but a solid B.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Bryant. The Fitzgerald pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher and quarterback still on the board.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In the 18th overall pick they get a building block for the line, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick50
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
The board fumbled Nick Emmanwori all the way to slot 50, and they scooped it up. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick52
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton in pick 52 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick82
Rnd3
Carson Schwesinger
Carson Schwesinger at the 82nd pick is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick92
Rnd3
Ryan Fitzgerald
A surprising call. With edge rusher and quarterback still to address, they spent pick No. 92 on Ryan Fitzgerald, a specialist they were not short of.
Pick137
Rnd4
Aeneas Peebles
Aeneas Peebles at No. 137 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick172
Rnd5
Cobee Bryant
They barely believed it either: Cobee Bryant still on the board at Round 5, Pick 34. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick175
Rnd5
JJ Pegues
No drama and no debate, JJ Pegues went about where he belonged in the Round 5 slot. The roster fit checks out.
Pick223
Rnd7
Moliki Matavao
Moliki Matavao in No. 223 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick234
Rnd7
Roc Taylor
The board had cheaper options than Roc Taylor at slot 234, and it noticed. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
