Grand theft in the Round 6 slot: the Steelers steal Shough and grade out a B-.

Call it larceny. Tyler Shough sat on the board until the 185th pick, and the Steelers did not need to be asked twice. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

They are betting Hawes proves the room right and everyone else wrong. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with quarterback the one that mattered most.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Josh Conerly Jr.
In pick 21 they get a building block for the line, even if it was a touch early.
Pick83 Rnd3 Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson at slot 83 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The roster fit checks out.
Pick123 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. at Round 4, Pick 21 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick156 Rnd5 Jeffrey Bassa
Jeffrey Bassa in No. 156 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick185 Rnd6 Tyler Shough
Tyler Shough in the 185th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick229 Rnd7 Jackson Hawes
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jackson Hawes this early at the 229th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
