Draft Grade — Steelers

FutureB-
The Steelers let Simon fall and pounced. Final grade: B. You could see the war room lean forward. Cody Simon at the 229th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Every board in the league had Jefferson lower, and that gap is the story. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
In the 21st overall pick they get a wrecking ball inside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick52
Rnd2
Matthew Golden
Matthew Golden slipping to slot 52 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick83
Rnd3
Omarion Hampton
Taking Omarion Hampton in the Round 3 slot is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick121
Rnd4
Hollin Pierce
They did well to land Hollin Pierce in pick No. 121, just ahead of his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick161
Rnd5
Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore at pick 161 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick223
Rnd7
Kaden Prather
A wild overpay on Kaden Prather in No. 223, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick229
Rnd7
Cody Simon
The board fumbled Cody Simon all the way to the 229th pick, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick245
Rnd7
KJ Jefferson
KJ Jefferson in Round 7, Pick 29 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
