Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The 49ers spent the Round 4 slot on Addison West, a name the board had a full 82 spots lower.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Helm. They will answer for taking specialist early while interior defensive lineman and edge rusher went begging. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.

On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
