Draft Grade — Bills

The Bills cashed the board's mistake on King: B-.

You could see the war room lean forward. Kobe King at the Round 5 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

The Simpkins III reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

They left with linebacker solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Shavon Revel Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value.
Pick56 Rnd2 Tre Harris
They did well to land Tre Harris in the 56th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick62 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins in the 62nd pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick108 Rnd4 Jamaree Caldwell
Value said wait; Jamaree Caldwell in No. 108 says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick131 Rnd4 Billy Bowman Jr.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Billy Bowman Jr. at slot 131. It fills a real need, too.
Pick171 Rnd5 Kobe King
The board fumbled Kobe King all the way to Round 5, Pick 32, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick175 Rnd5 Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius slipping to pick 175 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick179 Rnd6 Jason Marshall Jr.
They paid sticker price for Jason Marshall Jr. in pick No. 179, and that is fine. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick206 Rnd6 Alex Mastromanno
No drama and no debate, Alex Mastromanno went about where he belonged in No. 206. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick208 Rnd6 Torricelli Simpkins III
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Torricelli Simpkins III. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
