Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall C+
ValueC- NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
The Dolphins cashed the board's mistake on Moore: C+.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Dolphins watched Malachi Moore slide 52 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C+ in the wash.

They are betting Garcia proves the room right and everyone else wrong. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Cameron Williams
They reached a country mile for Cameron Williams at the Round 1 slot, and the board is aghast. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick48 Rnd2 Tate Ratledge
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Tate Ratledge well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick98 Rnd3 Tyler Shough
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tyler Shough. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick115 Rnd4 Jared Wilson
A tidy bit of business in the 115th pick, where Jared Wilson graded well above the range. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick135 Rnd4 Jordan James
The board had Jordan James higher than pick 135, and the running back fell to them anyway. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick151 Rnd5 Dorian Strong
Dorian Strong at pick No. 151 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick156 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore in slot 156 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick226 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa in Round 7, Pick 8 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick233 Rnd7 Gino Garcia
This one needs a full-page explanation: Gino Garcia in pick No. 233, miles early. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick252 Rnd7 Moliki Matavao
No edge and no loss on Moliki Matavao in pick 252; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
