Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
The 49ers let Spears fall into their laps, and walked away with a B+.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Dashawn Spears got past him. The 49ers do not have to explain a thing at Round 3, Pick 28.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. Reaching for Brewu left real value on the table behind him. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick58 Rnd2 Omarion Miller
Omarion Miller in Round 2, Pick 26 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick92 Rnd3 Dashawn Spears
They barely believed it either: Dashawn Spears still on the board at slot 92. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick126 Rnd4 Isaac Brown
They paid sticker price for Isaac Brown in No. 126, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick127 Rnd4 Myles Graham
Myles Graham at the Round 4 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick133 Rnd4 Justin Evans
Justin Evans in pick No. 133 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick138 Rnd4 Drake Lindsey
Drake Lindsey at pick 138 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick171 Rnd5 Francis Brewu
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Francis Brewu well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
