Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesA- FutureB
The Chargers cashed the board's mistake on Jones: B+.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Sheridan Jones tumbling to the Chargers in the 253rd overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.

They will need Guerendo to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
They paid sticker price for Rome Odunze in pick No. 6, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick42 Rnd2 Kamari Lassiter
Kamari Lassiter in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick47 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat in the 47th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick69 Rnd3 Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy slipping to pick 69 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick105 Rnd4 Christian Mahogany
A reasonable price with a little left over, Christian Mahogany in the 105th pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick110 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
Isaac Guerendo at No. 110 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick140 Rnd5 Tommy Eichenberg
A straight-up fair deal on Tommy Eichenberg at Round 5, Pick 4, value and slot in agreement. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick181 Rnd6 Marist Liufau
Marist Liufau is a better player than slot 181 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick225 Rnd7 Nathan Thomas
Nathan Thomas at pick No. 225 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick253 Rnd7 Sheridan Jones
Sheridan Jones in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
