[email protected] DRAFTING FOR THEBears
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

FutureB-
The Bears let Felton fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Bears were there to profit. Tai Felton, the No. 99 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 5 slot.
They will need Simpkins III to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Josh Simmons
A reach on Josh Simmons in No. 10; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick39
Rnd2
Shavon Revel Jr.
They let Shavon Revel Jr. come to them and pounced at Round 2, Pick 7. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick41
Rnd2
Malaki Starks
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Malaki Starks at the Round 2 slot. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick72
Rnd3
Dylan Sampson
Dylan Sampson at the 72nd overall pick is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick148
Rnd5
Tai Felton
You do not let a wide receiver like Tai Felton reach slot 148 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick233
Rnd7
Cam Horsley
Cam Horsley at the 233rd pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick240
Rnd7
Torricelli Simpkins III
Torricelli Simpkins III at pick No. 240 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
