FutureB-
The Titans bet the future on Ward. The board says D. Somebody took the Titans to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.
Henderson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The whole projection now runs through Cam Ward; hit there and everything else looks smarter.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Mukuba pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher.
Wease Jr. has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Cam Ward
In the 4th overall pick they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick34
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
They barely believed it either: Nick Emmanwori still on the board at pick 34. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick35
Rnd2
Derrick Harmon
A reasonable price with a little left over, Derrick Harmon in pick No. 35. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick38
Rnd2
Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge in Round 2, Pick 6 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick65
Rnd3
Jihaad Campbell
They robbed the room for Jihaad Campbell here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick101
Rnd3
Andrew Mukuba
A surprising call. With edge rusher still to address, they spent the Round 3 slot on Andrew Mukuba, a safety they were not short of.
Pick109
Rnd4
Smael Mondon Jr.
Value with a capital V on Smael Mondon Jr. in slot 109, a genuine coup. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick118
Rnd4
TreVeyon Henderson
You do not let a running back like TreVeyon Henderson reach No. 118 and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick140
Rnd5
Jaylin Noel
Jaylin Noel in pick No. 140 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick167
Rnd5
Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II at No. 167 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick176
Rnd6
Theo Wease Jr.
Theo Wease Jr. in slot 176 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick239
Rnd7
Jared Wilson
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Jared Wilson in pick 239, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
