You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Falcons did exactly that with DeMonte Capehart in the Round 7 slot. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Rosengarten value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

In slot 8 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.

No edge and no loss on J.J. McCarthy in the 43rd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.

Cooper Beebe in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.

They did well to land Khyree Jackson in pick 109, just ahead of his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.

Austin Booker at Round 5, Pick 9 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It fills a real need, too.
