Hclam22 DRAFTING FOR THEBuccaneers

Draft Grade — Buccaneers

FutureB-
Flashes of a plan, unevenly executed. Buccaneers: C+. You can hear the double-takes from here. The Buccaneers took Ashton Gillotte at the Round 2 slot, roughly 44 spots before his name belonged. A mixed bag that lands at C+.
The Jackson steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it.
Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
JT Tuimoloau
In the 19th pick they get a double-digit-sack hope, a steep price for the projection.
Pick53
Rnd2
Ashton Gillotte
Ashton Gillotte at pick No. 53 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick84
Rnd3
Sebastian Castro
Sebastian Castro at pick 84 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick121
Rnd4
Donovan Jackson
They barely believed it either: Donovan Jackson still on the board at Round 4, Pick 19. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick157
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
The board had cheaper options than Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the 157th overall pick, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick235
Rnd7
Cam Horsley
Value with a capital V on Cam Horsley in No. 235, a genuine coup. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
