Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesD+ FutureA
Grand theft in the Round 7 slot: the Jets steal Greenfield and grade out a B-.

Hard to follow the map here. The Jets bypassed cornerback, edge rusher and other spots to take Cade Stover at No. 78, a spot they had covered. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

They banked enough surplus on Greenfield to cover a lot of smaller sins. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

They are betting Milton III proves the room right and everyone else wrong. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Graham Barton
In the 29th pick they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
Pick54 Rnd2 Roman Wilson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Roman Wilson at the 54th overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick78 Rnd3 Cade Stover
Of all the spots to shop, they chose TE-EDGE. Cade Stover in slot 78 leaves cornerback, edge rusher and other spots for later.
Pick112 Rnd4 Javon Solomon
A surprising call. With cornerback, edge rusher and other spots still to address, they spent the Round 4 slot on Javon Solomon, an OLB-EDGE they were not short of.
Pick151 Rnd5 Tommy Eichenberg
Nothing to complain about; Tommy Eichenberg went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick187 Rnd6 Joe Milton III
They liked Joe Milton III enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 6, Pick 12. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick239 Rnd7 Garret Greenfield
You do not let an offensive lineman like Garret Greenfield reach pick 239 and blink. They did not. The roster fit checks out.
Pick254 Rnd7 Evan Williams
Nice patience on Evan Williams, who had no business lasting to No. 254. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
