The Lions let Smith fall into their laps, and walked away with a D.

The phones were a trap the Lions kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. If Zinter pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The Smith steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
