The 49ers checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

It is the swing that defines the weekend: Seth McLaughlin in the 189th overall pick, a good 52 spots before the room expected him. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. Walker falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

In No. 11 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick43 Rnd2 Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker in Round 2, Pick 11 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
