Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Commanders: B.

The Commanders banked a tidy surplus when Cam Skattebo lasted to pick No. 128, a few spots past his grade. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. They will need Hairston to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.

Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Nic Scourton
In the 31st pick they get a premier pass rusher. A real need, handled.
Pick61 Rnd2 Maxwell Hairston
They paid up for Maxwell Hairston at the 61st overall pick when waiting would have done the job. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick95 Rnd3 Tai Felton
They took Tai Felton at par in No. 95, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick128 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
They read the board right and Cam Skattebo was the payoff at the Round 4 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick133 Rnd4 Emery Jones Jr.
A quiet steal in Round 4, Pick 31: Emery Jones Jr. for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick205 Rnd6 Luke Lachey
Luke Lachey in pick 205 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick245 Rnd7 Ty Hamilton
Ty Hamilton in pick No. 245 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It fills a real need, too.
