The 49ers have some explaining to do after a D.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The 49ers reached some 251 spots for Peny Boone, and value like that does not grow back.

The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

They bet on numbers rather than a single high pick.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and tight end is still a hole.
