FutureB-
The 49ers let Stockton fall and pounced. Final grade: B. The 49ers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Gunner Stockton fell into the 203rd pick.
That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Johnson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Jordyn Tyson
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jordyn Tyson at Round 1, Pick 26 is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick79
Rnd3
Jaeden Roberts
Nothing to complain about; Jaeden Roberts went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick84
Rnd3
Keith Abney II
Keith Abney II at slot 84 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick91
Rnd3
Omar Cooper Jr.
Omar Cooper Jr. at the 91st overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick126
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
Good price on Jalon Kilgore in pick 126, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick134
Rnd4
Jude Bowry
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jude Bowry. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick139
Rnd4
Logan Jones
They took Logan Jones at par in pick No. 139, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick140
Rnd4
Blake Miller
A tidy little value on Blake Miller in the 140th pick, a step better than break-even. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick194
Rnd6
Oscar Delp
Oscar Delp in slot 194 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick203
Rnd6
Gunner Stockton
Gunner Stockton in pick 203 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick254
Rnd7
Dijon Johnson
Dijon Johnson at the 254th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
