Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesC+ FutureB
The 49ers cashed the board's mistake on Stowers: B.

Somebody in the Round 3 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The 49ers sat still while Eli Stowers, the No. 66 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most.

Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In the 27th pick they get a downhill thumper at linebacker, outstanding value to boot.
Pick58 Rnd2 Connor Lew
They did well to land Connor Lew in the Round 2 slot, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick92 Rnd3 Eli Stowers
Eli Stowers in the 92nd overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick139 Rnd4 CJ Daniels
CJ Daniels at pick 139 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick149 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
Good price on DeMonte Capehart in No. 149, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick154 Rnd5 Jalen Stroman
Nothing to complain about; Jalen Stroman went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick172 Rnd5 DJ Campbell
A reasonable price with a little left over, DJ Campbell in pick No. 172. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
