The 49ers checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The 49ers reached some 52 spots for Patrick Payton, and value like that does not grow back. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

They banked enough surplus on Moore to cover a lot of smaller sins. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
