Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB
The 49ers won the night they stopped Warren from sliding. Grade: B.

The 49ers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Tyler Warren fell into the 62nd overall pick. The bottom line is a respectable B.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Simpkins III pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Nic Scourton
In pick No. 30 they get a bendy edge with upside. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Tyleik Williams
Tyleik Williams in the 43rd overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick56 Rnd2 Jonah Savaiinaea
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jonah Savaiinaea at No. 56 is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick62 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
You do not let a tight end like Tyler Warren reach pick 62 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick75 Rnd3 Omarr Norman-Lott
Omarr Norman-Lott at slot 75 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick100 Rnd3 Charles Grant
Charles Grant slid further than he should have, and Round 3, Pick 36 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick113 Rnd4 Smael Mondon Jr.
Nothing to complain about; Smael Mondon Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick138 Rnd4 Malachi Moore
No drama and no debate, Malachi Moore went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick147 Rnd5 Pat Bryant
A straight-up fair deal on Pat Bryant at the 147th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick151 Rnd5 O'Donnell Fortune
O'Donnell Fortune at Round 5, Pick 13 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick160 Rnd5 Jordan James
Steal is underselling it; Jordan James at pick No. 160 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick161 Rnd5 Damien Martinez
Damien Martinez at the Round 5 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick165 Rnd5 Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin in the 165th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick227 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
They paid sticker price for Isaac TeSlaa in slot 227, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick249 Rnd7 Ja'Quinden Jackson
Ja'Quinden Jackson at No. 249 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick252 Rnd7 Torricelli Simpkins III
They paid a round early for Torricelli Simpkins III in pick 252, more than the board wanted. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
