Draft Grade — Giants
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB- TradesA+ FutureA+
Nobody dealt better than the Giants this weekend: A-.

Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Giants came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.

A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. The Giants indulged a want in Hill Jr. while a need in wide receiver, edge rusher and other spots stayed open.

Bottom line, with Arvell Reese leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In pick No. 20 they get the heartbeat of the defense at a price that makes it sweeter. Need was not the driver here.
Pick37 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
A surprising call. With wide receiver, edge rusher and other spots still to address, they spent Round 2, Pick 5 on Anthony Hill Jr., a linebacker they were not short of.
Pick105 Rnd4 D'Angelo Ponds
D'Angelo Ponds in No. 105 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick115 Rnd4 Blake Miller
No drama and no debate, Blake Miller went about where he belonged in slot 115. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick143 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart at the Round 5 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick184 Rnd6 Bud Clark
A tidy little value on Bud Clark in the 184th overall pick, a step better than break-even. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick191 Rnd6 Desmond Reid
Desmond Reid at pick 191 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick215 Rnd6 Riley Mahlman
A premium they did not need to pay, Riley Mahlman a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
