SCB0019 DRAFTING FOR THESteelers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Steelers kept it disciplined and banked a B-. When the story of this class is written, it opens with Charles Turner III at pick No. 241, a reach of 71 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
However the rest shakes out, Milton III at that price is a win they earned. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Taliese Fuaga
In slot 20 they get a blindside protector. Need was not the driver here.
Pick52
Rnd2
Quinyon Mitchell
Somehow Quinyon Mitchell was still sitting there in Round 2, Pick 20, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick84
Rnd3
Mike Sainristil
By-the-book stuff, Mike Sainristil at pick 84 squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick119
Rnd4
Jaden Hicks
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jaden Hicks at the 119th overall pick is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick120
Rnd4
Jamari Thrash
They barely believed it either: Jamari Thrash still on the board at the Round 4 slot. It fills a real need, too.
Pick198
Rnd6
Joe Milton III
The board fumbled Joe Milton III all the way to pick No. 198, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick241
Rnd7
Charles Turner III
They talked themselves into Charles Turner III at No. 241, and the board did not agree. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
