Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Bills kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Bills would have aced it. Oronde Gadsden II at slot 169 is 25 spots clear of where he belonged.

The Strong pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with offensive lineman, quarterback and other spots still on the board. For all the activity, offensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Watts.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Jack Sawyer
In slot 30 they get a problem off the edge. A real need, handled.
Pick56 Rnd2 Maxwell Hairston
The board had cheaper options than Maxwell Hairston at the Round 2 slot, and it noticed. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick62 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts at No. 62 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick109 Rnd4 Dorian Strong
A want over a need in pick 109: Dorian Strong adds a cornerback while offensive lineman, quarterback and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick132 Rnd4 Cody Simon
No edge and no loss on Cody Simon in the 132nd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick169 Rnd5 Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II in Round 5, Pick 31 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick170 Rnd5 Kyle Williams
They paid sticker price for Kyle Williams in Round 5, Pick 32, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick173 Rnd5 Vernon Broughton
They jumped the gun on Vernon Broughton, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick177 Rnd6 Que Robinson
Que Robinson in No. 177 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The roster fit checks out.
Pick206 Rnd6 Nazir Stackhouse
A straight-up fair deal on Nazir Stackhouse at the 206th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
