Draft Grade — Bears

FutureA
The Bears drew a line under the quarterback search with Williams: B-. After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Bears committed. Caleb Williams is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The cost of the Ceaser reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In slot 1 they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick18
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
In pick 18 they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
Pick75
Rnd3
Maason Smith
They talked themselves into Maason Smith at pick No. 75, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick122
Rnd4
Nelson Ceaser
This one needs a full-page explanation: Nelson Ceaser in the Round 4 slot, miles early. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
